Today is just not a good day. It started with my doctor's appointment, which was pretty routine, but the Navy hospital here interns a lot of Japanese and US doctors and nurses. So, any little thing you have done, you have four people staring at you while it's being done....to "learn".....whatever...
The doctor then insisted that since my thyroid is half missing (from a surgery when I was in high school) that the hospital have everything about my remaining 1/2 thyroid documented in case anything goes wrong with it while I'm here in Japan (you know, due to radiation or something). So, I had to have to bloodwork done to test my thyroid levels, which I was totally unprepared for today.
Great, so now four doctor's have watched as I had my routine well woman appointment, my arm is throbbing, I'm hungry and woozy...I walk in the cold and rain to the bus stop only to find out that the bus won't be there for 40 minutes. I'm shivering and cold and near tears. I don't want to bother John because he works hard during the day and is always busy, so I find a place in the hospital to sit and wait for the bus.
Once I'm back to the hotel room, John tells me the piece of paperwork we'd been waiting on has been approved! This means we can move into our house in about two weeks! This should be amazing news! I should be dancing and forgetting all about my bad day. I was almost there, until I went to the Personal Property Shipping Office to talk about our household goods shipment....you know, all of our stuff that John and I have spent five years putting together as a couple. Dishes, TV's, sheets, bookshelves, etc....
They tell me that San Diego DID ship our items. No one knows when. They think our stuff will be here before July.....
So now, I'm back to my bad day. I walked back and forth to the Personal Property Shipping Office twice today.....in the rain. My shoes got wet, my socks were soaked through...and did I mention I lost my umbrella? Yeah.
Bad day....hopefully, it can only look up from here.
Keep your chin up! I know things will get better soon. I'm so excited about you living in another country! I'm so incredibly jealous ^_^
